You have gotta be s**ttin' me.... :eek7:

MINNEAPOLIS (Reuters) - Al Franken, a comedian and former liberal radio talk show host, won the Democratic nomination on Tuesday to run for a U.S. Senate seat from Minnesota.

In the November election, he will face incumbent Republican Sen. Norm Coleman and the Independence Party's Dean Barkley, who also won their nominating contests, according to returns from the state's primary election.

Franken, who once starred on the late-night sketch comedy program "Saturday Night Live," outran six opponents, taking 66 percent of the vote, with more than half the returns counted.

Franken is a good guy, and very intelligent, why would you say such a ridiculous thing?

Is he not evil enough? Connected to huge oil companies? Defense contractors? What is it that scares right wingers about good people?

has anyone told franken that being a senator involves more than making smarmy quasi witty remarks about bush on the letterman show (for example) and bashing anyone and everyone republican?

given his penchant for such behavior im sure his campaign ads will fit right in with the rest of the smear tactics both sides use every election year.

In today's political world, the rule is that you HAVE to smash, crush, humiliate, belittle and redicule your opponent.

After the last 8 years, doing ANY of the above to a member of the right is completely acceptable.

They've earned it.

You said in another thread that you want Mc Cain to win just because you don't like what TLG says about Obama.

That makes you as partisan as I am,the difference is that I'm honest about it and you're not honest about it.

In fact,I find that everyone ( without exception here at DA) who says "I'm not partsian " would sooner vote for a conservative before they would vote for a liberal.

That tells me they are conservative ,they are just ashamed to admit that they are a conservative.

And I don't blame them for being ashamed to admit that they are a conservative either.

you should learn to read. go back and read the post you ****ing hack. i dont like mccain and ive said this several times and i said i'd rather mccain win just so TLG can cry about it. honestly i like obama more but its hard to when there are people like TLG acting like ****ing children. but thats ok for him to act like a child, he supports obama, so you dont mind that but it irritates the shit out of me to no end.

i guess i just dont like the thought of supporting someone that is also supported by people like TLG and every other ****ing hack in this country, left and right. it bugs the **** out of me because i wind up getting lumped in with the rabid foaming at the mouth ****tards who think its ok to bash one side and ignore what "your side" does. it just doesnt sit well with me and never will. im glad you've made peace with it, hell you join in on it. i dont like bush but i sure as hell wont join in on the shrub jokes, constantly calling him dumb etc. whats the point? what does it do for you? you like to go out your way to accuse republicans in general in being mean spirited *******s and yet you exhibit the same ****ing behavior and even justify by saying shit like "well they do it, why cant i?"

Ummm... no, not really. It's just the "in thing" for some reason. The people as a whole want a civil government, but yet they keep electing combative jerkoffs into congress. Someone who is as partisan as this guy will be blinded by his politics, and we've got too many blind people on both sides of the aisle as it is.

You really are a right-winger,aren't you?

Just to the right of center, actually. I've even checked on multiple internet tests :|
Basically I think there are good ideas on both sides of the political fence, but I more frequently give priority to the right than to the left. I think there are partisan hacks on both sides of the fence, and I think Franken is one of them.

People who are neither right wing or left wing are just ...nothing.

I think there are a lot of centrists who would disagree. I think they'd probably prefer the term "open minded."

Source? Proof? Evidence?

And here I thought he was a comedian...

I think to be considered a comedian you actually have to be funny - epic fail in that department :P

Still,you lean right.

And that's fine with me,I don't go strictly by left orthodoxy myself (at least not new school left orthodoxy),but I still think all of us have to lean one way or the other and I lean left and I'm honest about it.

I find these people who claim "I'm neither left or right" and call people like Al Franken (and me)partisan hacks are partisan twords the right ,they just won't admit it.

I don't know why they won't admit leaning to the right?

Maybe they are ashamed of leaning twrod the right?

If so,I don't blame them for being ashamed of that.

It's not like elected officials actually do anything, for gosh sake, like make important decisions. All they need to be able to do is have a modicum of public speaking ability and skill at 'fundraising'; all the rest is handled by lobbyists and their employers. It's not like politicians read or write any legislation, stuff like that. Why would they need intelligence or wit? They don't even need to be literate.

Not sure if I can think of anybody specific that falls into that category (do you mean here on DA or out in the media somewhere?) but if someone were trying to be "incognito" about being right-wing I'd suspect it's probably more likely fear of having some batty ultra-left f***tard picketing out in front of his house (or worse) because he dared speak an opinion that the leftie didn't agree with. Both sides have their extremists, but for some reason the left sure seems to get the largest bulk of the true whackjobs.
