View Full Version : SUPPLY AND DEMAND MY ARSE
Snouter 08-09-2008, 01:39 AM Get out yer calculators. $147 minus $117 = $30. $30 divided by $147 = 20%.* The price of OIL went down 20% in a matter of weeks. OBVIOUSLY that has nothing to do with supply and demand. It has to do with FEAR that the Congress might actually do something to contain the speculation perpetrated by hedge funds and other scum.
* I did not double check meh math.

Snouter 08-12-2008, 12:47 AM Oil is allegedly $113 a barrel as of now. I feel sorry for the morons who locked into a higher price for their winter heating oil. Congress needs to bring this ridiculous to an end.
America needs to be destroyed.

Or it could be that they're worried ANWR or off-shore drilling will be approved.
Snouter 09-15-2008, 04:21 PM What was it $95 today? This manipulation would not be so bad, but the filthy criminals who set the prices at the pump do not bring the price down correspondingly with the oil barrel price.
GahdamnAmerica.

With refineries closed and ports damaged, it could be free and we'd still be paying at the pump.

Yea, went down another 5%, and gas prices are still the same, should go down at least 20 cents tomorrow, should be under 3 bucks now here in Ca, about $2.85-2.95 a gallon.
Proves once again the oil companies and these speculators are gouging us, I'd like to see someone claim they aren't now. remember they told us gas prices were just responding to the price of oil and it was blamed mostly on opec. Well fluck, why isn't gas 2.85 then? And if gas prices aren't based on the price of oil, then why did gas prices shoot through the roof this spring?? Could it be that they are arbitrarily set and we're being screwed?

Hurricane Ike shut down major refineries in Houston. Until they come back online, refined petroleum products, ie gasoline, will be in shorter supply than normal. In the real world, that means higher prices for a while. They will suddenly drop when the refineries are producing again.
Gas prices rise every spring for 2 reasons.
1. Fuel reformulations. The EPA requires that gasoline sold in the summer months be a different composition than gasoline sold the rest of the year. Refineries, since they have no excess capacity, must reduce output until they can retool to produce the different formulations. In the real world, lower supplies mean higher prices.
2. The summer months see a much greater demand for gasoline as people are taking vacations and driving a lot more. In the real world, more demand means higher prices.
But this has been well known for quite some time.

Hey, who knew big oil had a pr hack here to give us this wonderful information??
Farnsworth,Luther P. 09-17-2008, 04:09 AM I drive about 2,400 miles a year in my private auto. I could care less if it hits $10 a gallon personally, but they wouldn't be gouging the public if the public wouldn't stand for it; obviously they do stand for it, and not only that will vote for Demorepublicats to make damn sure they keep on getting gouged.

Where I live they mandate oxygenated gas from November through March, and that shit burns so fast it's unbelievable.
The O2 sensor sniffs the mixture and dumps more fuel into the injectors because of all of that extra oxygen, so it just burns up in no time. It also reeks. They actually put warning stickers on the pumps advising users not to breathe in any vapors. It can cause headaches and nausea.
It seems stupid that people need to be told not to sniff gas, but either way, that's some nasty, inefficient fuel.

Can you dispute ANY of it?
Funny, first I'm getting paid by the RNC, now I'm getting paid by big oil. What's next, do I get paid by Pillsbury too if I like their food? I could get rich doing this.

It's interesting to observe the logic at work in a FLoP post:
1. FLoP doesn't care if gas costs $10 per gallon, but:
2. FLoP has only contempt for "the public" because the public tolerates gasoline price gouging. Unlike FLoP, the idiots who tolerate price gouging will vote for Demorepublicats in order to make sure they continue to get gouged.
3. Thanks to the idiot public that votes for Demorepublicats, the price gouging oil companies will probably raise the price to $10 per gallon.
86Dude 09-17-2008, 10:24 AM It's the refining component peeps.
