The good news is the food: I got my choice of either steak or lobster and steamers. I told them I wanted both. They said "No problem."

The bad news is the beer. The beer offerings will be Amstel Light and Miller Light. Seriously, wtf? Fortunately we are allowed to also bring our own. BEER RUN!

wtf is a steamer? (Aside from a Cleveland Steamer?)

Also, I'd drink free beer whatever it is.

Just so you know, that's a pretty hot image right there. :eek3:

A steamer is like a mussel/clam/oyster sort of thing. And I agree with you about drinking the free beer, but given the choice of spend $12 and bringing my own 12 pack, I'll take it. Two years ago the beer choice was BUD SELECT and I didn't have my own beer...so I drank the stinkin Bud Select. I'd still choose the cheap beer over Smirnoff Ice and the like (which will also be served).

BYOB! Sounds like an ideal party. What does your wifey do for work that they can have lobsters?

She is a CPA for a small public firm...maybe 50 employees. They have a summer picnic/lobster bake every year. This year's is at a park on the Connecticut shore. It should actually be quite nice.

That's awesome. What kind of beer are you bringing?

I don't know...I have to go shopping. :) My wife asked me to buy a six pack. :P I told her I'd buy a 12 pack so I could "share." :|

Lobster is plentiful up there. That's how.

What do they have for those that don't like steak or lobster? :P

Tell your wife to give me her resumé. I work for the largest CPA firm in the state :nice:

Plenty of pasta salads and shit.

I wish she'd test the job market. She could tack 30% onto her salary. She's happy though so she's staying put.

Can't fault her for that. I could tack another 10g on probably, but I like where I am.

Let me know what you think about this one. I haven't tried it yet. I've not been out to buy beer much, and when I have it's only been available by the case.

How was the Smooth Hoperator?

It was DEEEEE-LISH! Not as hoppy as an IPA, but noticably hoppier than your standard pale ale. This is the 2nd really good doppelbock I've had recently. I might have to try some more.

Awesome. Not all doppelbocks are the same, so don't have the same expectations. It's nice they're still making hoppy beers considering the world wide hop shortage.
