End of Century: The Ramones was on this a.m. I recorded it and it may be on again. Don't know for sure.

From reading about them it seems that they were collection of comically weird, paranoid, bizarre and bickering "characters."

Those bloated 14-minute songs (Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, etc.)? Not for the Ramones (or the Clash or...). Hurray for that.

I saw them live back around 1983 or so. That was THE loudest band I have ever heard in my entire life. It was so loud, it's literally indescribable. I can't imagine what the decibel level was, but it had to be well into the thousands, I guess.

I don't particularly care for their music, and being a guitarist and keyboard player myself, I wasn't impressed with their level of talent, but I do realize that they played what would be called an alternative type of music. It wasn't quite punk, it wasn't quite rock. I'm not sure what you would call their music, but I do know they were offensively loud.

OTOH, I had an exceedingly great time that night, because the concert was just a complete night absolute insanity. It was like some weird circus. People were walking around with toilet paper in their ears to prevent future deafness or immediate hearing loss, there was major slam dancing going on, people rushing the stage and literally being thrown off by the bouncers through mid air into the crowd or onto the concrete floor. I saw so many people smack into that concrete floor that night that I lost count. They would just get up and jump right back into the middle of the madness. A few were bleeding, but they didn't care. It was like they were in a total frenzy.

A few fights broke out, but the bouncers would just drag people to the door and throw them into the street. There must have been at least 30-40 bouncers alone.

My ears were ringing for about 2-3 days after that show, and I can't imagine those guys playing like that for so many years and not having serious hearing loss; if not deafness. One dude was standing directly in front of one of the giant speaker cabinets, as though he was actually mocking the noise itself. That was one wild night that I'll never forget.

i watched this yesterday. not one of my most favorite documentaries of the band, but still enjoyable.

the scene where dee dee congratulates himself on the rock n rock hall of fame was both sad and funny at the same time. :(

i saw them live at the palladium. they were awesome. <3
