Packaged cookies are of the devil. Except oreos.

Yeah I don't like any packaged cookies. They have that "packaged flavor" and they're never adequately soft and chewy. I like my cookies half baked.

Me too! A great trick is to make up a sheet of cookies and then pop them in the freezer for about 20 minutes. Then bake. You get the nice crispy outside and soft and gooey in the middle. Yumm-mee!

great idea!

It took me years but I finally found the recipe for cooking the utmost perfect chocolate chip cookies that don't flatten out too much, stay big and chewy and delicious! I'll give you a hint....the secret ingredient is vanilla pudding mix!

My favorite cookie is called an ANZAC. They were invented to send to Aussie soldiers overseas and consist of rolled oats, raisins, golden syrup and coconut (Rayne probably has a real recipe). When they come out of the oven they're chewey and then they harden into a toffee consistency. In fact they're so crunchy they can cut the inside of your mouth but I still love 'em.

Don't get me into the whole pain & pleasure thing or we'll be discussing cookies in TEF and that would just be confusing.

This is sort of off topic because it's about a "bar" more than a "cookie" but Colonel's post got me thinking about it again, something I'm always wondering. What are those chewy bars that seem to have a standard chocolate chip cookie dough bottom and then they have a chewy caramel layer and a toasted coconut layer on top, sometimes I see them with nuts (but prefer them without), not sure if there are other things in there too....anyone know what I'm talking about and what they're called?

My favorite cookies are the classic home made peanut butter cookies and chocolate chip cookies.

The only packaged cookies I eat are the Girl Scout thin mints. Packaged cookies just don't come anywhere near the quality of homemade ones.

I used to have a big problem with Double Stuff Oreos. Those cookies make me quite happy.
