I've been perstered by a caller at 617-245-9602, and decided to Google it. Turns out a lot of people have been pestered by this number lately, according to http://whocalled.us Also, some have been outright verbally abused by telemarketers claiming to be with the Obama campaign, looking for campaign donations from this number.
I lived in New Hampshire for many years, and we saw this kind of stuff from rival campaigns, where one campaign would hire a marketing firm to harrass registered DNC voters with campaign contribution calls claiming to be associated with a competing campaign. This would piss off the voter toward the other campaign, thinking that they were being rude and obnoxious, or at best, sloppy in the hiring of their contract firms for fund raising. It's small time stuff, but primary campaigns hinge on very small time factors in small areas. With Kentucky coming up very shortly, this area is getting blitzed with this kind of nonsense again.
I talked with the Obama folks and this number isn't associated with their organization, just as I suspected. I gave them the website address where I saw the comments concerning this number and a lot more numbers like it that are being a pain in the ass to people. This should get interesting.
I like this Internet thingy here. :D

A reverse directory search says it's an unlisted number, but did reveal the following:
(617) 245-9602 is a land line based in Cambridge, MA
The registered service provider is Global Crossing Local Services, Inc**.
Detailed listing information is not available.
If their provider gets enough complaints. they should certainly take action.
