Saw it this weekend, one of the best comic book movies, period. Good action flick, good eye candy, and solid story.

Anyone else see it?

How did it compare with the X Men series?

I want to but money is short these days. I will have to wait until it comes out on video. Either that or ask my daughter about it when she sees it. Kids get to have all the fun.

I couldn't see it this weekend, but I will SOON.

I heard it's the best comic book movie made in recent years.
i.e. better than Spiderman, X-Men, Batman Begins, et al.

I've heard another reviewer also say that they liked it better than X-Men, and they really frikkin' liked X-Men.

I love the Spiderman and X-men series, but sorry Ironman was not up to par.

It had so much potential especially at the beginning, but fell short in my opinion.

Yar! I haven't been this excited for a movie in a looong time. Good fun.

The trailers are worth waiting for as well I keep hearing. Amost everyone is geeking out over Nick Fury.

Well, to me Batmen Begins was the best. I really liked X1 and X2, thought X3 was 'eh.' Spiderman 1 was great, but 2 and 3 (especially) pretty eh.

I think Ironman is up there with X1 for me, but it is still a step below Batman Begins. I like Batman Begins in that it treats itself as a serious movie. It has big plot, it has emotions, and is serious. I think the rest of the comic book movies lose some of that.

The ironman world I just feel isnt as well developed/interesting (at least in the movie) as some of the other comic book worlds. The movie lacks a big strong major villian and is really way more character centric.

That said, it is up there because of good story, good acting, and really good direction.

-The final battle was too short
-The ending made no sense (wasn't Ironman suppose to die as well?)
-The romance was far less than Spiderman (which is a good thing), but seemed an afterthought.
-The beginning was good, but the part where they were in the cave was too long.
-The whole thing about him wanting to get out of the weapons manufacturing business was a laugh. Seems the tree huggers got their wish there.
-He seemed only to be Ironman the final part of the movie. And if you saw the preview, you saw most of the good parts.

I just found myself saying "oh my god, is he already fighting the final battle?" "where is the rest of the action?"

"Iron Man" was nothing less than a USDA-Approved Grade A *masterpiece*..

As *most* of the Marvel Comics's feature film adaptations have been....

By the way, now that Marvel has the financial funding clout of Paramount Pictures behind 'em....look for *none* of their future films to be a 'clunker'....

Not like that *other* company....The Discombobulated Competitors....made in past years....

As an aside, did you notice that background music - played by a Big Band - in the casino scene, early in the "Iron Man" film?

Wasn't Ironman supposed to die as well?

Not if he's still a valid, viable, living entity in the original Mrvel Comics, he ain't..

And *especially* not when Marvel & Paramount are already draughting the storyline for an Iron Man sequel for 2010..

For the record, it's the theme song from the *original* 1966 TV cartoon:

So now ya *know!*....:p

I was talking about in the movie, he was saying to do something (I can't even remember) and she was saying "no you will die too". I don't read comic books, so I couldn't tell you if he was suppose to die or not, I just thought I remember hearing something in the movie that he was going to die along with the main bad guy at the same time.

Must have missed something.

Pepper was merely showing her concern over Iron Man sticking his neck ot in such a manner...

A lot like how Mary Jane Watson-Parker frets about her hubby Peter (A.K.A. Spider-Man):hmm:

Imax is for those worthy movies, but my social phobias and distaste for plastic nacho cheese makes it not worth my effort to go. That, and I've been working like a dog lately. :hmm:

no, not really. most of the movies that I have seen in imax I wouldn't bother to rent. :hmm:

as for the plastic nacho cheese, don't get nachos. Ask for an extra large popcorn with layered butter and a squishie to go with it. :D

I agree. I saw Ironman in DLP a couple of weeks ago and it kicked ass. I have a beautiful 46" HDTV with surround system at home but it just doesn't beat the theater.

The sound is what always gets me. Not to mention, some movies are for sure enhanced seeing them in the crowded theatre.
