This is The Time Tourist which I posted as The Time Guardian.

The story I now have in print is slightly different from the original. I edited and fine tuned it for print. Anyway here it is. If you feel charatable than feel free to buy a copy or buy two and give a copy to your mother this mother's day.

I will be offering this for sale on Barnes and Noble as well as Amazon at a later time.

Love always

Criminal

PS

Please excuse my shameless self promotion. This took me about two years to complete and I am very excited.

Hardly, I am still an amature. But I did investigate this publishing thing thouroughly. You have to beware of bogus publishers (publishing mills, author mills etc). Its best to find a legitmate agent. Check the authors digest website if you are not sure. I ended up going to Lulu, a print on demand service (not the same as a publish on demand which is typically a bogus service). Lulu is good because they charge very little for their services and have a solid reputation.

My daughter just read it and pointed out more typographic errors than I could shake a stick at. I went back and re-edited it.

Bummer. You can't edit your own book, though, man. Even editors have someone else edit their books. Your brain will see what's supposed to be there. Hand your daughter a highlighter, then find one or two others who'll also edit for you. THEN make corrections.

(I used to be in the biz.)

I edited it (for the tenth time) and now got it ready for distribution. I got a copyright (owned by Lulu) and an ISBN number. I will inspect this edition and then it should be ready to sell on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Nice. Congrats. I admire your ability to follow through with a whole novel.

What's the story with lulu.com? What is it and how's it work?

Lulu is a print on demand service. It allows anyone to submit a manuscript on their website and it will generate a book. This differs from Publish on demand services which are not always that reputable. I chose Lulu because it cost less than other similar services (such as iUniverse). Also, unline a lot of Author Mills (or vanity presses) it has a decent reputation and does not carry a negative stigma.

Of course, most established writers hire literary agents but unless you are already established and have solid credentials no agent will touch you.

Mainly, I do not aspire to be the next Stephen King, but I do like to write and was looking for a way to get my ideas in print.

That's super-duper cool. I like to write, too, but I doubt I'll ever have the ability to undertake (and, more, actually finish) a whole novel. That's really impressive.

Congrats, again. (And thanks for the tip on lulu. I may do a coffee table book of travel photography or something).

in chapter 11 or 12, it is a discussion of futurama in the book (on a side note, i was thinking there were parrallels between Illyana and Leela bewfore this chapter

firstly, it's leela not leah. secondly Hermes, is an accountant/bureaucrat not a doctor. thirdly, futurama is anythigng but stupid ("it's suppose to be stupid. it's a comedy") alot of the genius of the show flys above alot of viewers head though. an example of this was the maths lecture on the bender's big score dvd. it's like wow, man. see http://futuramamath.com/ for more on the hidden mathematical genius of futurama

saying that, i am liking the book but these errors need correction i feel

i have finished it. i thought it was an ok read.

though i have to say i felt that the grammar and spelling errors were off putting and made it tougher to read then it should be. i'm no perfect speller. hell i'm no where near a perfect speller but i think as the case was that you were asking for people to part with their money for the item, you should have had the spelling mistakes cleared up and errors cleared up before you had offered it for sale

my mother also queried about the line spacing keeping on changing.; some single line spacing and some double line spacing.

i think it was good but it could have been better.

have 2 or more people check the work and it'll be better (as one person could easily mis a mistake)

just my advice

I read the summary for your book, that sounds really good. I'll probably check it out as soon as I come into some extra money. btw, I wrote a book too if your interested in checking mine out. it's called Ace Darkly: The Heavy Metal Man. It's my first book, and I edited it myself too. Editing was the worst part :) Read some comments above I know how you feel, still, looking forward to checking your book out :) http://www.amazon.com/ACE-DARKLY-THE-HEAVY-METAL-ebook/dp/B00BAT5SKM
