I realize he has alleged dermatological problems (skin troubles) and I accept that. But why would someone that can afford, or a least used to be able to afford before he got into more debt than Enron, the best plastic surgeions in the world have them reshape him to look like a fire-damaged department store mannequin?

1982- Pretty cool. Good music, had some facelifts but they were improvements, I guess, if he was unhappy with his original looks.
1992- Starting to be pretty weird, but still decent music and while pretty odd-lookingby now, not unreasonable.
2002- Music questionable, appearance absolutely frightening.
I mean, if he'd been in a disfiguring accident, then I wouldn't think anything of it. But he seems to be doing this on purpose. It's scary.

Yeah, that's the skin issue- I couldn't recall the name for it.

A couple things about his skin troubles.......scar tissue is not pigmented like skin, it contains no melanin, so it's lighter. He's had numerous sessions with the plastic surgeons. The resulting scar tissue is more evident on a dark person than a lighter person. So, he's got to find some way to lighten his skin. In this case, he 'washes' the desired areas with a weak solution of hydrochloric acid, which destroys healthy dark skin, and replaces it with lighter scar tissue. Which hides the many scars from his surgical adventures.
There is no 'skin condition'.

Well, to be fair, DM, I have no trouble with the idea that it started out as the vitiligo problem. It supposedly manifested on one arm and hand, which was the real reason of the one sequined glove thing. I've known people that have that problem. They were pretty self-conscious about it.
Clearly, one thing led to another with him, and these days, it's probably more like what you said- covering the alterations.
