Do you have a Ford Mustang? if so:
What year / engine / trans?
Why did you buy it?
What is your favorite Mustang, why is it your favorite?

if not:
What is your favorite Mustang, why is it your favorite?

I do, its a 1992 5.0 Notchback 5spd (http://www.corral.net/cgi-bin/members/rr_main.pl?car&p&p00006311&p&p0). I bought it because there is nothing else on the planet that sounds like a 5.0 Mustang with some good exhaust (and I perfer not to have a hatch). I use to hang out on my front porch with the boys and we could hear the 5.0's off in the distance racing and crusing, there was no doubt when you heard the charertistic sound of a 5.0.

My favorite Mustang is probably a '69 or '70 Mach 1 428SCJ because of looks and its Big Block power.

My favorite is the notchback 5.0 model, but with lowered suspension. I have a Capri 5.0 AOD and I switched the bubbleback with a used Mustang hatch before I had it painted black over 5 years ago.

My stang is identical to Manu's. 01 Mineral Grey GT premium package 5sp. Well, it is actually my wife's car http://discussanything.com/Ubb/biggrin.gif

We got one because we had both always wanted one. I had a 64.5 at one time, but the summer I went to go pick it up at my grandparent's, they decided to GIVE IT AWAY! She said they were tired of looking at it. They bought it in 64. It was mostly original but hadn't been driven in about 10 years. I remember as a kid, playing in it. http://discussanything.com/Ubb/frown.gif

man, I cried

I like the 64-68's, 93 cobras and 99+

But, I also like LS1 Camaros/Firebirds and most all sports cars http://discussanything.com/Ubb/biggrin.gif

Got me a 2001 Mingeral Grey GT. I got it mostly because I've wanted a stang since I turned 16, but didn't want to get an older one since I am not that mechanically inclined, and drive about 500 miles a week.

My favorite stng would be a 69 Mach 1.

It is just such a gorgeous car. Red with black racing stripes and black wing.

86, 306(soon), T5

Why did you buy it?

Cause It was cheap at the time and in mint condition. Plus I love the way Black 85-86 cars look, soon I'm going to paint mine Black..

What is your favorite Mustang, why is it your favorite?

Probably a tie between a Boss 429 and the 2000 R. Because they are the two Mustangs closest to a race car. Pure Muscle..

First Mustang was an '87 GT. Grey metallic w/ titanium ground effects (just like the one Robert Urich had on Spenser For Hire, before he traded for the Boss 302, my all-time favorite). I bought it used in the summer of '89. It was a stripper, A/C the only option. Loved it, ran it hard, wrecked it harder, 9 months later. Replaced it with an 88 LX 5.0 hatch. Red with red interior. Loaded, power everything, sunroof. Didn't really mod the engine much, but I put in one hell of a stereo. Drove it 5 years or so. It met its end thanks to a kid in one of those Dodge Shelby Daytonas doing donuts on a dirt road and then turning in front of me. It was supposed to go in the shop the very next day for about 5 grand in work, including a couple new body panels, a Cobra intake, and some other goodies. Never made it. Fast forward a few years, bought a '98 GT convertible brand new, took delivery on Halloween 1998. Had it 'till last month. Good car, but the 4.6L engine was a real disappointment. I don't really miss the '98, but I do miss the 87 & the 88.

Yes, I have a Ford Mustang.
It's a 1991 Coupe (http://blue91gt.351stang.com/91coupe/X09.jpg). As it sits in that picture, it's a 4 banger, as it sits in my garage, it's gutted. It is a budget build with a 302 standard bore block, Explorer 5.0 intake, gt40 heads... AOD (hopefully with an Art Carr torque converter and Lentech valve body soon!). My husband bought it for me, I was looking at a 93GT at the time, and he came across this one for $800. We jumped on it.

The fox body is hands down my favorite Mustang. 93 Cobra ... *drool* ... Why? It is one kick ass piece of machinery. (No, I am not only saying that because it was my first engine build! lol)

I hagve a 92 LX hatchback, 5.0, AOD w/ Bauman shift kit, 3.73 gears, Flowmasters, only 53,000 miles.
I will always regret passing up a chance to buy either of two Louisiana State Police 5.0`s w/ 4 speeds.
I found them on a car lot in Shreveport in 1995 in good condition, black with white doors. I would love to have kept them in their State Police dress, less markings, of course.
Imagine driving down the interstate having everyone slow down for you.

Do you have a Ford Mustang?

Of course

What year / engine / trans?

89 5.0 Coupe. AOD w/2600 stall converter, but soon to be a C4. Twisted Wedge heads, Track Heat intake, TFS stg. 1 cam, TFS 1.6 RR's, 76mm MAF, 70mm TB, griffin radiator, stewart water pump, custom electric fan setup, flowtech 1 5/8" shorties, bassani offroad x pipe, 2 1/2" magnaflows w/dumps, lakewood 90/10's + 50/50's, 4 cylinder springs...car used to be a 4 banger 5 speed that we picked up for $400 but my dad and I did the conversion on it. I'm about to swap an 8.8" into the back of it, maybe this week if I can find time. I could go on about this thing forever.

Why did you buy it?
Because it was $400 and ran perfectly

What is your favorite Mustang, why is it your favorite?

definitely the '93 Cobra...or a stripped down lx coupe...mmm....

A 79-93 coupe is still lighter (mod for mod). The only thing I'd change on my coupe (the only thing that Ford should have done in the first place) is put some decent brakes on it.

Ford should have kept the 93 Mustang, taken the savings of not retooling, and refined the car, improving paint, fit and finish, hardware, etc. The Mustang could have had world class quality at a reasonable price.

IMHO, the 93 Cobra is a much better looking car than the 2001.
They took the SN95 styling too far with the creases and fake scoops. The 2001 styling will soon look very dated.

You have a pretty car! I`m talking about the new Stangs with the fake hood scoop.

hillie16
11-08-2001, 07:18 PM
Speaking of side scoops. on the 94-98 mustangs....Me and TavisB from SN noticed that on my car, the scoops are open into the rear wheel well, I'm assuming to cool the brakes. However on his 98 GT they are not. Same with the little hood nostrils on the sides of the bulge. Any idea why?

On my website their is a pic about halfway down on the home page were I'm doing a burnout and you can see the smoke pouring out of the side scoop...that's what I like best about them.

I have a Mustang. Its a 99 V-6. I bought it cause I got a very good deal on it. I wanted a GT but they were IMPOSSIBLE to find when I bought mine. I liked it for about the first six months. Now I hate that ****in thing!! I've had nothing but trouble with it. I can't wait until I'm not so upside down so I can buy something else. I'm really a Trans Am fan at heart anyway, but I love the new body on the Mustang. I have to agree my favorite Stang is a 69 or 70 Mach I.

You might say that I am in to Mustangs.

Well, heres a description.

86 Mustang GT, 5spd 2nd owner for 8 years. ROH Snypers 255/40/ZR17, Koni Reds, urethane bushings, Hurst Shifter, aluminum driveshaft, 3.08 gears, Eibach Springs, 4 wheel discs with caliper upgrade, Mach 1 hood, convertible side mirrors, Eclipse head unit, 170mph speedo, both digital and analog guages. Aluminum quadrant, pedals, and A HD FOMOCO clutch. A9P EEC-IV processor, EEC Tuner.

Engine: Balanced, true 302, stock rods, Federal Mogul slugs with file to fit moly rings. TFS aluminum heads, SVO roller rockers, GT-40 intake, E-303 camshaft, ARP head bolts, rod bolts, intake bolts etc. 65mm TB, 73mm MAF, and functional ram air from the hood, K&N conical, and MSD 6AL. BBK headers, H pipe, Dynomax mufflers. Battery relocated to the rear. 3 Core radiator.

All work done myself, not in the shop once in 8 years.

87 octane gas, 19lb injectors, stock fuel pump, 18 degrees initial, and no pinging! Not making that up, but damned if I understand it. Average 16 MPG city, with all time interstate best of 28 MPG.

God, there is a bunch more, but I just can't remember it all.

No LS1 trouble here.

Favorite mustang? 85 Mustang GT convertible, or hatch.

I do own an 85 GT vert, but it is sitting in my garage damaged after it was accosted by some local punks. Needs a drivers side fender and A LOT of work.

Something very sad. My uncle bought a 69 Mach I and spent several years restoring it until it was absolutely PERFECT. Him and his wife get divorced, she gets the car and sells trades it in on some family car (I heard her bragging to my Mom that she got $2000 for trade in on it). I'd still love to kill her for that.

You dumped "a ton" of cash in a coupe and could not get it running in the mid 12's ???? What did you do with the money?

That list includes parts replaced due to wear as well as astetics. Yup, I caught the heads, intake, cam, etc. Best bet for more go is a blower.

Also,

Unfortunatley the Z28 has a lot of go for the buck and is unquestionably faster right out of the box. I still like the Stangs better though. I suppose thats part of why I wound up with a BMW Z3.
