View Full Version : Obama/Hillary or Hillary/Obama ticket?
KillZone 03-16-2008, 03:14 PM Would Hillary settle for VP?
I do not believe that she would. Obama is younger, and I can see him settling for the VP because he would be the president after Hillary.
I believe that either of those “tickets” will win and win big.
Chachma v'Oz 03-16-2008, 03:23 PM He might have settled early on if he hadn't received the support he has. Now there's no reason for him to consider it.
If he doesn't get the nomination, he can still be a presidential candidate in the future after a stint as governor of Illinois or something like that. He's made is mark nationally and paved the way for national office.
Zordar 03-16-2008, 03:32 PM Would Hillary settle for VP?Doubtful. I'm sure Conan/Letterman/etc. would love the opportunity to joke about her "third term as VP".
But somehow, I doubt her equation accounts for their wants and needs.
:(
Stone 03-16-2008, 05:06 PM I think hillary would definitely settle for VP. She's too old to run unless she's the incumbent - imagine how ghastly she's gonna look in 8 years after an obama presidency. She will need REAL experience on her side to win that race. Plus Hilly seems to strive for power and probably is already copying some of Cheyney's playbook.
I think the enduring presence of Hillary in the race is indicative of her intention to be VP. I would be wise of Obama AND Howard Dean to co-op her into the main ticket as a sideline figure.

Don't be fogged...she will accept nothing less than the Democratic Presidential nomination. To her way of thinking, why should she settle for less, after enduring all she has as First Lady to a philandering husband President? She's fully intent on making it back into the White House on her own individual merits. She has her own very personal reasons for her campaign.
Stone 03-16-2008, 11:08 PM i think you're right but I think she will rationalize the vice presidency as her stepping stone, removing her from the risks of voting as a senator while solidifying her government experience credentials. She could still be president, just not in 08.

Nope, I can't see it. I think it's now or never for her. Just my thoughts...
Nor'Easter 03-17-2008, 07:30 AM I have this vision of her standing on a stage holding Barack's head out in front of her with thousands of middle age women wearing pantsuits and sensible shoes - gray hair cut in a fashionable but easy-to-care-for style - screaming in pure blood lust, as they join in global connectivity with their sisterhood through Blue-Tooth technology, and celebrate their long-denied ascension to world domination.
Yeah, VP. Sure. Whatever. If it gets her in the kill zone, she'll take it.
Chachma v'Oz 03-17-2008, 09:04 AM Nope, I can't see it. I think it's now or never for her. Just my thoughts...She has no reason to give up her open-ended senate seat for a temp job as VP. I agree - she feels she's entitled to the top spot and it's that, or nothing.
KillZone 03-17-2008, 09:45 AM Hillary is 60 years old. 8 years of being the VP and waiting to be the President is not something I believe she would be interested in doing. I think she will ultimately retain her position in the Senate if she is not the Presidential nomonee for the Democrats because I just cannot see her playing “second fiddle” (as my deceased Mom would say) to Obama or to anyone (other than Bill).
Obama is 46 years old. He has time. Yet as has been mentioned, why should he not win the nomination if he can? Go for it, Obama.
I wonder whom would be Obama’s VP choice? Bill Clinton? Yes! William Jefferson Clinton! :)
Bill Clinton for VP!! How strange would that be if it is legal? Bill would overshadow Obama or anyone. :)
Chachma v'Oz 03-17-2008, 01:40 PM It's legality would be challanged, but I don't see a problem there. In the event of the death or disability of the president, Bill would just be skipped over as ineligible and Nancy would be sworn in as president.
There's a cabinet member right now in that spot. He's way down the list, but if it came to him he'd just be skipped over.
