I was browsing the websites of some of my favorite smaller LA Venues (The El Rey, Troubadour, Music Box @ The Fonda, The Wiltern, etc) and I found some amazing music coming up. I sense a lot of my forthcoming raise going to paying for concert tickets over the next few months.

On March 23, The Paul Peress Project with the legendary Tom Scott and the great Ric Fierabracci on bass at The Baked Potato if anyone is interested in really interesting music.
Allan Holdsworth, the world's greatest guitarist besides Frank Gambale, is touring the east coast in May. Definitely going to try to catch one of his shows.
The Baked Potato is pretty great, seen a few good shows there. A bit pricey though with their drink minimums.

Oh cool, it's actually 5 minutes away from my house. I remember going there a few times when I was dating this girl, about a year ago. They got good food and there was a great Jazz Rock band playing there (can't remember the name). They invited me to join them on guitar for one song, so I did "Little Wing". I remember it was a fun night:cool:.

I would take Holdworth over Gambale, because he's much more interesting to watch and listen to, in my opinion. Both of them have outstanding techniques, but their tone kinda sucks, as does the majority of the music, and they don't seem to know much about playing with passion, soul, or even diversity. Maybe I just don't like the style, but it seems like they are trying to make music without any kind of expression, but only to feel good about being able to play fast. Personally, I much prefer guitarists who are "all around" great and actually play great music, like Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck:).
