One of my customers has a farm a couple of hours outside of town and his wife raises chickens there. Once in a while he'll bring me a dozen of the eggs and I'm here to tell you that there is no comparison between them and the eggs we get from the store.

I've tried "free run".

I've tried "Omega 3".

I've tried "organic".

There's just no contest. These farm eggs are bigger, the shells are harder and the yolks are almost orange. I can only describe the taste as rich...the equivalent of 100 proof.

The only problem is now I'm spoiled.

How am I supposed to go back to eating regular eggs now that I've experienced real eggs?

My life is ruined! :(

Growing up we always had our own chickens and eggs, i had no idea there was a difference until moved off the farm! Now I buy eggs from a neighbor that has some chickens so I can still get my fix! If you can find a place that advertises "fertilized" eggs that's usually the difference in the color of the yolk and the flavor as well, plus they are more nutritious.

I had the same problem with milk, growing up I always drank raw milk and when I couldn't get it anymore and could only find pasteurized crap at the store I pretty much stopped drinking it, now only use it for cooking and the occasional bowl of cereal.

The only answer to your problem is to raise chickens. :nice:

I have two cooped up predators (cats) already.

There'd be nothing left but soup bones.

Bummer.

I have to sit through a half hour of fox stories every time my friend brings me eggs but it's well worth it.

Just so ya know I had a pair of them (over easy) this morning and sat them atop some home made chili on top of brie on top of toasted whole wheat.

Bow before the breakfast king.

It's gross when you get an egg with a dead chick inside.
