"Post Whore" is oversimplifying the matter somewhat... Google says that a Discussion Leader will typically:


Plan the discussion.
Monitor the discussion.
Post messages and new topics/questions for discussion.
Encourage participation.
Encourage interaction.
Focus and summarize the discussion at appropriate intervals.
Introduce external expertise/resources.
Enforce netiquette.
Monitor and refer technical problems.It's a job in a way, for a DL has to be there every day, and should be enthusiastic about it. It's a fine forum to monitor. If sharing my pain and sorrow with y'all didn't help, I wouldn't be doing it. It's a great place to seek advice, question and complain. Some people are on here just because they like to hear other people's problems... But some do honestly invest their true thoughts and experiences in trying to answer some really hard questions that concern all of us at one point or another. This is probably one of the most valuable forums on DA, for it gathers the broken hearted, the troubled and confused, and offers a comforting feeling that you're not alone. It deals with deeply personal and confidential issues, requiring empathy and openness, very fine human qualities. In short, this forum brings out the best in all of us.
