View Full Version : $20 Million for Bill Clinton? KillZone 01-22-2008, 03:20 PM Go for it, Bill: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120097424021905843.html?mod=hps_us_whats_news Que sera, sera 01-22-2008, 06:34 PM Go for it, Bill: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120097424021905843.html?mod=hps_us_whats_news Mr. Clinton is negotiating to end his relationship with Mr. Burkle's Yucaipa Cos. as part of a broader effort to protect the presidential campaign of his wife, Sen. Hillary Clinton, from potential conflicts of interest. Details of Mr. Clinton's involvement in Yucaipa and his efforts to unwind it come from documents and interviews with people familiar with the matter. Mr. Clinton is also one of three owners of the global fund's general partner. The others are Mr. Burkle, who is the managing member, and an entity connected to the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum. Severing the tie to Dubai, a U.S. ally, will remove a potentially tricky problem for Mrs. Clinton. Questions raised about the activities of sovereign wealth funds -- giant pools of money controlled by foreign governments -- have become a campaign issue, as the funds have made a spate of multibillion-dollar investments in such corporate giants as Citigroup Inc. and Merrill Lynch & Co. In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Mrs. Clinton said such purchases are "a source of concern," partly because the foreign funds "lack transparency" and could be used by foreign governments as "instruments of foreign policy." Ha! I hope Obama's camp runs with this one. Talk about the pot calling the kettle... Wake up to both Clintons, people! KillZone 01-27-2008, 06:42 PM Bill Clinton is the most powerful politician in many ways that we have seen in the past 20 years, imho. I have no doubt that if he could run again, he would win. If this 20-million is legit, why should he not take it? I say, Go for it, Bill. I would. Why should he not? Farnsworth,Luther P. 01-27-2008, 07:42 PM Wake up to both Clintons, people! I have to agree with this statement. I also think it applies to Obama as well, not that it matters to people who insist on believing the incredible farce elections are here ... KillZone 01-27-2008, 10:55 PM A clinical psychiatrist that works with a group of her peers told me that they—the group she works with—believe that Bill Clinton is a sociopath. Whatever he is or isn’t, he is a smooth politician. Hillary isn’t even in the same ball park as is Bill when it comes to politics, imho. Farnsworth,Luther P. 01-27-2008, 11:12 PM A clinical psychiatrist that works with a group of her peers told me that they—the group she works with—believe that Bill Clinton is a sociopath. No doubt about it, really. Most of these pols are in the big leagues, frankly. I think Kucinich, Edwards, and Obama are the only three names who aren't that are in the running currently; not that this means they should be appointed President. Whatever he is or isn’t, he is a smooth politician. Even his enemies say he's the best they've seen. Hillary isn’t even in the same ball park as is Bill when it comes to politics, imho. Nope, but she's likely just as sociopathic, if not more so than he is. soylentgreen 01-28-2008, 01:25 PM Shouldn't Bill have dealt with this stuff before his wife started to run for prez? |
