When you're Indian, you have no choice. Your marriage will be arranged, or your life is ruined. Am I correct?

You could be with your "love" in secret (just like 80% of everyone else out there) until you get bored and realize it's nothing special, and by that time, you might even start to see why parents arrange marriages in the first place. :)

Or...you could move to North America, or Great Britain. Get your independance. Work you ass off for stupid things, change 1000 lovers in a lifetime, and die alone.

That said, follow your heart, I still believe in the old adage "It is better to have loved..." Just try not to be too naive about it, if at all possible.

what i said here may be very cruelly. i read some essays about the arranged marriage in India, and i agree with their authors (most of them are Americans). they think sometimes an arranged marriage is happy. in India, the parents cannot choose a partner at random for their children. they also hope their children are happy after marriage.
