It was great, there is no better way to enjoy a movie! We'd take lawn chairs, wine coolers, etc, and kick back under the stars, and relax. Truth Teller 07-02-2002, 10:21 PM There are a few left in Southwest Ohio where I live. My older sister often toook me to them during my childhood and I've gone to them as a adult. I do love Drive-in movies,I'm glad they're not totally extinct but I'm sad that many [including a couple I went to as a child and teenager] have closed and that new ones aren't being made. Redfield 07-03-2002, 12:52 AM I haven't been to one for years, but I hear that there's one in Santa Cruz or Capitola. I miss them. PissyPrincess 07-03-2002, 12:54 AM OOOH drive in movies are so much fun but dreadfully have not been to one since i was a kid ... saw Batman in a drive in movie soo much fun Corporate Avenger 07-03-2002, 01:32 AM I remember going to them all the time when I was a little kid. Drive ins kicked ass, It's a shame most if not all are gone. What was the last one open in Southern California (I'm pretty sure) was about a mile and a half from my house Before it closed down a couple years ago to become a Lowe's and a K-mart:rolleyes: When I was in high school me and a couple friends would get Beach chairs and ride over to the drive in and sneak in the back gate with a bunch of food and drinks and watch movies. Once my friends got cars we used to pack a bunch of people in the trunk so only one person had to pay and we would go in there and get stoned and drink Beer. It was so fun. If any of you have ever seen the "Lost Drive In" on Speedvision before it was cancelled, that was the Drive In by my house. I hope one day somebody starts building them again.. Miss Misery 07-03-2002, 01:40 AM Redfield's right.. there's a drive-in in Capitola, CA. Last time I passed by it they were playing Spiderman. hehehe There's also one by my house (in Illustrious Pomona,CA...note sarcasm). I remember going to this drive-in all the time. I can't remember what movies I've seen there, but then again I prolly just played around with my cousin or something instead of actually watching the movie. I'm not sure if it's still open though, because I haven't been to that area in ages. Calypso 07-03-2002, 08:03 PM i used to go all the time when i was little.we would wear our pjs and then eat popcorn and fall asleep halfway through the flick.good times. the last time i went to one was for a friends b-day 4 years ago maybe.i think it was somewhere in the valley, but im not sure.they should bring those things back.i think alot of people would go to them. rearrange 07-04-2002, 01:34 AM wooo i go all the time. two new movies for cheaper than theater. just sometimes i want to throw rocks at the kids who are still one the swings in the front and i can see their little legs instead of the screen. but its comfty if you take a truck on a nice day and load it with pillows and blankies. NO its not an excused to makeout, never ever would i do that! Criminal 07-04-2002, 11:51 AM There are a few by my house. I think the police dont like them because people drink and get stoned in their cars. I remember when I was 18 and watched a double feature: Cheech and Chong's Next Movie and the original Friday the 13th. I got stoned off my ass. It was the first time I really got that wasted. Kids that was years ago and I dont do it now. Just say no kids! Truth Teller 07-05-2002, 09:04 PM Originally posted by Corporate Avenger When I was in high school me and a couple friends would get Beach chairs and ride over to the drive in and sneak in the back gate with a bunch of food and drinks and watch movies. The second oldest running drive in in this country is the Lynn Auto Theater in Strasberg,Ohio www.lynnautotheatre.com . There are presntly 430 drive ins operating in America, including a few new ones that have been built in recent years. Ohio has the most drive ins in operation with 38,Pennsylvania is second with 37,New York and California are tied for third place with 30.
