they're installing fios in our neighborhood this week. it's nice to finally have some competition in the market.

has anyone had experience with fios?? which is better?

I have a feeling that fios will be cheaper, but it may not have all the stuff i need it to do.

also, dsl vs. cable? I know the slowskies could help me out on this, but i just don't trust those turtles. :|

I have Fios, but only for internet. I guess the best thing I can say is that I don't notice it. In particular, I don't notice downloads being slow. I just saw somewhere yesterday that it was rate #1 for all three of internet/phone/cable, which seems like a good sign.

have you seen any advantage in cost?

Hard to say, since I only have the one service and especially since my wife pays that bill. ;)

FIOS for the ****in win!!!!! seriously. FiOS is butt raping everybody but it is taking a long time to roll out because it is a big change. Definitely go with FiOS. Mainly because it is fiber to your home and depending on the package it is godly fast and also affordable in the grand scheme of things. Also it is very reliable and will get better as time goes by. Cable is pretty much at it's limit. FiOS is ****in . FiOS is the clear winner, hands down. no question about it.

But no Howard Stern on Demand?

do I have to do all the work or are you going to look into it yourself? :hmm:

I'm just askin', as you seem to be the FiOS cheerleader. :|

I have a co-worker that converted to FIOS for everything except phone service (go figure). He's very pleased with his decision from both a product and economic perspective. I'm still stuck with DSL and cable in my area.

We have Comcast Digital Cable, it's pretty cool. Definitely get Fios for your internet though because it is screaming fast. Not much diff. in terms of cable (quality-wise).
