I have this box

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16856101462

I'm pretty sure it's 8x AGP, but the specs don't show it (or I missed it)

I have an older vid card, radeon 9600 series I believe. The fan is dead on it. I really want something with component outputs on it so I can put this box in my entertainment center and make it the HTPC it was meant to be.

I'm thinking that since it has an nvidia chipset, I should get an nvidia based vid card so as to not have issues. Granted, my radeon card works fine, is that good reasoning?

one of the cards I found was this one:

something like this would be nice, but I don't think it'll fit in my case :(

Kraw, I have some advice for you. it comes from me being fed up with spending tons of money on cards.....especially video cards. I don't do it anymore.....at least not like I used to.

if you have an AGP 8x slot on your motherboard, then it might be pretty cheap for you. anyway, here is my advice.

don't ever buy an expensive video card with a fan on it. I learned my lesson from that. my first SLI setup had 2 nvidia 7800 GT's on it. the fans seized up. it happens. often you don't know until it is too late. that was $1200 worth of video cards...toast. I sent them back to the manufacturer only to have it happen again months later. before that it was a radeon 9700 Pro....same problem. now I always buy video cards with passive cooling. no fans to worry about seizing up. they are usually the lesser cards but if you hunt for it, you can get a really good setup that has no fans. my current rig has 2 512mb 8500 GT's in SLI. works beautifully and at only $86 each.

Recently I just got this one - ATI Radeon X1650 Pro 512MB AGP Graphics Card (http://www.dealstudio.com/searchdeals.php?deal_id=84153&ru=290), it is a very good video card. It's not the fastest in the world, but it is definitely at the top of the heap for an AGP model card. When I installed it and started trying various games, I was able to increase the resolution and turn on more of the bells and whistles that games supported.
