View Full Version : Does anyone hear ever call a radio talk show...
lamja00 01-02-2008, 11:50 AM to opine on things political? I called Bill Bennett's morning show on New Year's Day and that fat ass freedom of speech hating coward would not let me on the air. What are you guy's opinions regarding talk radio? Do you listen and do you participate? Have you ever tried to get on the air? If so, how was your experience?
Saison 01-02-2008, 12:01 PM This somehow does not surprise me. You may have better luck with NPR's call ins. They tend to let anyone through who can contribute to the discussion in a polite and articulate (and fast) manner.
Gibson 01-02-2008, 12:17 PM I've called into radio twice and it never really got political... It was about some other issue, I forget.

Thanks. The comments that I wanted to make were very concise and articulate, but his call screener would not let me on the air. I suspect that it was mainly because I had positive things to say about Ron Paul.
Saison 01-02-2008, 12:36 PM In the future, tell them your comment is affirming whatever they're talking about, then when you get on the air, say what you want. :)
Gibson 01-02-2008, 12:38 PM I like NPR. Granted it has a liberal slant, it at least gives the right a chance that we could *possibly* be right on some issues. It's not like fox news/cnn.

You would enjoy it, I think. It's informative and funny.

Sometimes I get through, sometimes I don't. Mostly local stuff, but I was on with Mike Savage one time. I disagreed with him and he acknowledged my point.

When is it on?

go to npr.org and look up Car Talk's website. You should be able to put in your location, and it will tell you the schedule of when it's on your local station. It's different on most NPR channels.
enkahootz 01-02-2008, 01:32 PM I sometimes listen and have decided that (pretty much) the only people that call in to these shows are loons who rarely understand the issue itself, they just feel passionately about one side or the other...
Epicius 01-04-2008, 03:19 AM I called up George Galloway once - don't know if they are anything like UK talk radio over in the States but here they ask you to turn your volume down to avoid feedback, this is rubbish they have a delay loop put in and anytime you look like you are getting anywhere they pull the plug before your comments get properly on the air and "Hello......hello...... hello, caller...........oh well it looks as if we have lost Freddie and just when he was getting interesting, totally wrong of course, next caller please!"

Sometimes I feel the same way when I'm listening to certain talks shows, i.e. Bill Bennett's.

Or, it's the non-apologetic abrupt cutoff tactic that the host uses when it seems like someone is getting ready to make a good point.
