Christian music brings in big-time money; the release, and subsequent box office successes of Mel Gibson’s The Passion of Christ, and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, has made Hollywood sit up and take notice. There are Christian dating services, Christian investment companies, Christian real estate brokers, a Christian MySpace, Christian comic strips, Christian bloggers and even Christian comedians.

And, there are many Christian men’s groups.

How about a Christian men’s group headed by a conservative Christian comedian?

He’s a raunchy, raw Republican devoted to stamping out “political correctness,” and he’s got the chutzpah to claim on his website that he’s “America’s favorite conservative comedian” (quiet as it might be kept, there are a number of other conservative comedians out there). In 2004, he performed for “R: the Party,” an event hosted by Jenna and Barbara Bush during the Republican National Convention in New York City.

Brad Stine is a Christian comedian who heads up “GodMen,” a ministry that encourages men to let their manhood hang out. . . .

The Chris Hedges' book is a truly eye-opening read. I would also recommend this one:

i read chris hedges' book and found it ridiculous on the whole, but it did offer some entertainment at the expense of the american christian rubes profiled within.

In the convenience stores, here in the Midwest, there is a weekly publication - in the vein of Auto Trader and Want Ad Digest - that advertises "guaranteed Christian owned an operated businesses". Not just Christian, but Evangelical born-again Christian. No Catholics, or even Presbyterians, Episcopalians or any other "worldly, ecumenical" Protestant faiths allowed. Hundreds of faithful Jesus-loving products and services providers gathered together in this one guide for the right-thinking, right-living servant of the Lord. As if giving their business to the enemies of God is somehow sinning against the blood of the risen Christ.

Personally, I get the feeling that they want us to persecute them. If not, they sure as hell are blowing it for themselves in this society. No healthy society wants or needs a large section of itself to be closing itself off from the rest. That only serves to alienate them and put a focus of distrust on them. We all know where that eventually leads
