So I picked up some good sized lobster tails a few weeks back and froze them. I thought they'd be yummy to have with some nice NY strip for dinner tonight. What's the best way to prepare them? They're not steamed (still grayish in color).

I will cook for you when you come see me. You'll have way more fun at bullfrog with all your pals than watching me and Dave make out. :|

Hmmm. Can't offer much else though as the only way I like lobster is in bisque or fondue.

I much prefer crab :hmm:

Sounds yummy. I have all those spices. I was curious if there's any method that's better than another.

My mother is the curry specialist when she gets home ill ask her how to do it and I know she knows how to do the pepper lobster tail as well.

I figure curry lobster tail should be similiar to curry shrimp.

One way to prepare curry shrimp is to basically put curry and a pinch of cumin in an already heated pot while the pot it still on the fire and you let the curry burn somewhat. You have to this because if its not burnt you might get stomach aches. Then you add a pinch of ginger then you throw the shrimp in. The on another burner you have string beans, broccoli and carrots steaming and when its cooked halfway you put those with the shrimp. Then you stir and then you add salt, stir some more then you slice peppers and put in the pot and VOILA.

Im not really sure if its any different when cooking curry lobster maybe though cuz I think if you dont do something to the lobster meat it could poison you. When my mother gets home ill ask her asap. I called her on her cellphone but she is not answering.

Thanks! I'll have to try that curry shrimp recipe! That sounds awesome!

I like them broiled best .... my GF takes care of the cooknig around here except for grilling and other things I feel like doing ... which isn't much (I don't really like cooking) shes' not here now so i can not ask her how she'd do it, which of course would be totally yummy... anyways something like this is along the lines of what I would do .... I'd probably put some paprika and garlic on the tails in addition to the butta prior to broiling. lobstertails + Filet of beef + asparagus + mashpotatoes = yummy! IMO

I tried to use my recently acquired Top Chef info and attempted to poach using butter & old bay. Meh. Dave didn't eat much of his, so I think we're about done with lobster. From now on it will be crab legs or nothing. :)

they're hard to keep tender I would imagine ... I've had them three times in the last month or so ... from resturants (dinners at hotels), they were broiled and nice and tender, I have no idea how they do it .... I would guess the boil, then broil method, (I'll ask someone next time to see fer sure) ... is that what you used?

no, I just took them out of their shells, and put them in a ziploc bag with some butter and old bay and attempted to slow poach them. It didn't work out the way I had hoped. I've pretty much abandoned the idea from now on.

The trick with lobster is freshness. I always maintain that seafood is to be eaten at the coast where it's fresh. When living inland - how can seafood be fresh? Lobster tails - if done correctly - would be my last meal on death row.

Holy crapballs. good job.

Yeah Natalie Dee is different, but sometimes it's our kind of humour. You should have fun with it. TFD archies might take you a wee bit of time, though. He's been doing it for years.
