this was the most incredible week. I say that every year, and I mean it every year. It always gets that much better. So i had been disappointed at going for tech week instead of performance week, but I think it ended up well-- I feel like i really was supposed to be there this past week...Camp isusually 90omething kids... we had 28... usually 15 counselors, we had 6 (plus an uber-leader, a medic, and one teacher who was 21, so she hung out with us a lot) We were all pretty tight... we had fun.. and we knew ALL the kids.. most of them, we knew very well.. some counselors bonded with kids more than others--- i was way close with my girls and even the boys in my group were very close with my by midweek--

i got married to two boys in my group-- i had the older kids... me and one of my girls made kneaded rubber eraser engagement rings and proposed to this kid who was an absolute sweetheart.. and then another boy got jealous and proposed to me to... (only at camp would i be this dorky... but it was fun)

we had quite a few running jokes...way more than when i was a camper, and a lot were mostly between the counselors...
but among my favorite were -

running around saying "look what i can do" like the mad tv character "stuart",

my group had a greeting that we shouted all week...
me or shaun would say "Kee kirry koo which sounds like kitty kitty coo" nand our kids answered singing "the sun, the sun..."both came from different things... it was uber fun though

saying "yay for ____" and inserting just about anything..

this game that we beat to death, but it was still funny.. "You can have doors but you can't have windows..." (can you find the pattern?) hehe

playing catch with snaps...(snapping really fast and poretending to throw it to another person, or catching it in your mouth.. it sounds weird but it looks hilarious)

interpretive dances... (nuff said...)

hoarding all the 8's while we played crazy 8's at the lake...

mafia - even though we only played like once and theysaid "oh, we play mafia soooo much here..."

losing miserable at staring contests.. im talking someone stares at me and i buast up laughing...

staying up till 4 am talking to my girls one night

when a camper asked me to spend one meal with the kids instead of the counselors and how all the kids were Sooo happy i did...

my performance art piece, and the catwalk...

there is plenty more.. but i think that paints a pretty good picture... then there is the ultimate camp experience of the week

(hehehe) so my co-group leader put a picture of Tobey Maguire on his folder, and i told him he should givehim an adjective (everyone picks a word that starts with their first letter of their name) so Shaun's folder had a picture and a label "Totally my Tobey" it was pretty funny... so on Wednesday, one of the camp directors noticed that Shaun had left Tobey sitting on a couch and he looked at me and said, you better take that! and i was like, huh? and he suggested that me and lacey hide the folder.. .so then we took it and brought it back to our cabin... i was like, hey we should hold him for ransom... so we cut up magazines and made a random note asking for "The SUn, the Sun.." and then we delivered that.. and notes saying "do you know where tobey is?" and then we plastered the lodge with a zillion magazine pictures captioned with things like "i know where tobey is" or "tobey, where are you" all kinds of different captions and stuff.. it was a major hit.. then, Shaun thought it was the lighting teacher behind the prank so he put together a presentation from the whole red group talking about the Sun.. andhow tolight, costume and stage it.. and he made a shadow pupper thing out of cardboard the said "the sun the sun" and was pretty spectacular looking.. (me and lacey felt bad so we stayed up till almost 4 am working on it... and stupidly we had to walk from the lodge to our cabin at that hour alone.. it was SO not fun...) but the sun came out good... and then that was thursday morning.. the pictures were posted, the sun was made, and we sent shaun another note-- "Sorry, guess again..and we asked him for an interpretive dance of the sun" so the red group worked out a routine, but it gotr all messed up and we didnt get to do it.. and acye and I needed to return tobey in some kinda flashy manner so i wrote a song
it was to the tune of "steal my sunshine" but it was steal his tobey... it was SOOOO funny-- i need someone to send me a videotape of it! so me and lacey performed that and returned tobey.. it was a whole big production--- good times...

yeah, so those are some of the big fun memories.. also the staff made a silent movie-- that was fun,,really fun..

true that- true that
but you also said it's different and stay a camper as long as you can... but nothing beats staying up all night making silent movies, playing mafia and doing interpretive dances...

*sigh*
