I hate shopping in December. The parking lots are always full of women in SUV's who apparently don't drive at all during the rest of the year, because they clearly have no idea what they're doing.

I'll love the holidays when I have kids who get excited about it. Until then, it's just one more thing on my "to do" list. :hmm:

I've hated Christmas for many years. Several years in a row going to visit your mother in the hospital will do that, and so will having your lover cheat on you while you're spending Christmas with their family. I still hate it, but mostly for different reasons now. I tell people year after year that the one thing I want for Christmas is time but of course every year all of the shopping and cards and dinners and decorating and whatnot leave me with even less time than I usually have. I love being with family, that would be great, so let's just spend time together without all of the silliness.

I love the season, except for the friggin cold. Because I'm a cheap bastard, I only shop for a few people, so once I've bought each of them a gift card I enjoy going to shopping centers and malls, listening to the music but mostly feeling smug about not being in the type of frenzy most everyone else is in. It's one of the few times I get to enjoy smugness.

And I always say "Merry Christmas" to the people at the Salvation Army kettles, especially the poor saps who have to wave paper bells instead of ringing the real thing.

More like too young, actually. This is the first year that my daughter has really been able to appreciate the whole thing. When I'm around her I try to put my irritation about Christmas aside, just as I do with my irritation about work or traffic or anything else. It's just something parents do. :shrug:

Oh, it is. I don't hate Christmas at those moments, and I never begrudge the time I spend with her. It's after she's in bed, and I'm looking at another evening of fighting Christmas traffic to buy gifts for other people who bought me more crap that I'll only have to spend more time getting rid of, that I allow it to bug me.

I can't stand thanksgiving to christmas. it's just a pain in the ass, and it magnifies the familial problems that I doubt will ever go away.

I hate holiday cheer.
I hate holiday music.
I hate holiday commercials.
I hate holiday TV specials.
I hate holiday retail price hikes.
I hate the ribbons, bows, wrapping paper, and singing/light-up cards.
I hate feeling like people expect me to buy things for them.
I hate the Salvation Army Santas with those annoying-as-all-hell bells.
I hate the moving Christmas-light reindeer that have rotating heads.
I hate the big coloured Christmas lights.










But I love candy canes. It's my one weakness.
