View Full Version : How exactly do you "gently warm" a wine beverage?

So last weekend I bought myself a bottle of glogg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulled_wine), and I have to say, it's really, really frikkin tasty.
However, I've only had it at room temp so far, and being winter room temp is actually a little bit on the chill side.
Apparently the best way to drink this stuff is warmed, and it say to "gently warm" on the bottle.
What's the best way to go about doing that?

I just pour it in a sauce pan and heat on low. I suppose if you wanted to get anal about it you could uncork it, then slowly submerge the bottle on a pot of hot water and simmer for a few minutes.

Is it already spiced? If not, you could get a crock pot and warm it with some spices low. Don't heat it too much or you'll cook off the alcohol.

I heat up wine in a kettle on the stove on medium heat.

I think I can only drink beverages at two temperatures...hot and freezing cold. I can't imagine drinking something "gently warmed" or at room temp.

Yeah, it's already spiced. Tonight I tried a mugful and just nuked it, which seemed to work OK too.. if I do a larger serving at my little gathering this weekend I may just bust out the sauce pan...
