The Israel Lobby and the War Party
Or do I repeat myself?
by Justin Raimondo
How many times have we read some variation on the following lede?
"Israeli armored forces backed by aircraft thrust into the southern Gaza Strip today, killing four Palestinians a day before Israeli and Palestinian negotiators were to begin laying the groundwork for peace talks."
The Israelis don't want to negotiate, but they're willing to go through the motions--after all, why not? It's just another way for them to thumb their noses at everyone, including their American benefactors...
...Why should the Israelis be interested in peace, when war has been so good to them? War gave them their country to begin with: first against the British, then against the indigenous Arabs, then against the entire Arab world--all of whom they beat handily...
There does seem to be--at least imho--more journalists/others whom are raising questions about the "Israeli Lobby" than ever before in America.
:yikes:

Two weeks ago when Annapolis was being touted as " the 23d attempt to get a peace settlement in Palestine" I said to my wife: I guarantee you that the Israelis will either attack somewhere or add settlements in order to undermine the talks. Damn I'm good!
Rice chides Israel on new home-building plan
US secretary of state says Israel's plan to build 300 housing units in east Jerusalem 'doesn't help build confidence' with Palestinians ahead of renewed talks. Livni states West Bank settlements will be evacuated as part of peace deal Yup we will evacuate all the west bank settlements (except of course those we don't)

I scan the mainstream news daily and I would have to strongly disagree. In fact, Chris "softball" Matthews just the other night pretended not to know the real reasons for US military action in the middle east. It makes one wonder if Keith Olbermann has his painfully worded rants signed off by the Bush Administration before delivering them.

Ha! Would you have admitted it to us fine DAers if your prediction to your wife had failed to occur? Something like: Damn, I’m bad! Well, we'll never know on this specific issue... :)

Since I don’t scan any media regularly, I will (painfully and grudgingly) defer to you opinion, Snouter. I suspect my opinion is based upon wishful thinking rather than facts.

You have nothing better to talk with your wife but about "those evil israelis"?
Pathetic

Well they learned from the best. Israel, it seems to me, is modeling the techniques used by the USA to "win" the wild west... the main difference being the microbes aren't on their side.

Predicting Israeli behavior is a no-brainer, as most of my predictions to my wife tend to be, as she has a long memory!

Bad hair day? Actually you come up sometimes, but only when we're bored with news of Brittany.
Does this guys op-ed exist in a vacuum? Does he mention why Israel continues to attack enemy stongholds in Gaza? More importantly, is Hamas a part of the peace talks or are they the subject? Can the Israeli's be interested in peace and still maintain operations against enemies? Should they stop all actions against hamas while they talk with the Palestinians?
As to the attacks:
About 10 tanks were involved in Tuesday's operation and three Palestinian rocket launchers were eliminated, the IDF said. Agence France Presse quoted Palestinian sources as saying about 30 tanks were involved.
Tanks and warplanes also targeted armed operatives of Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Resistance Committees who continue to fire homemade Qassam rockets at Israeli communities near the strip.
Just trying to add balance to the thread.
About 2,000 Qassams and mortars have been fired from Gaza this year. Although they have caused few fatalities, they have spread panic in nearby Israeli communities such as Sderot.

Ha, I don't take you seruiosly no matter how I look.
All those who think they sound so smart for saying something are anti-israeli, that suits only the world that is their head, and not the reality.
Hope for you, that at least your wife, is imprest.

Sderot is an israeli city that gets up every morning to some rockets fired on them for years now.
I suppose the anti-israelis call this situation "cease fire"

.
Wow! Now all smart sounding people are anti Israeli? Does that mean all dumb sounding people......?
KanuckiStang 12-14-2007, 10:49 PM This nonsense happens on both sides. Elements on both sides do not want peace. Elements on both sides intentionally up the rhetoric and attacks whenever the prospect of peace and compromise are even suggested.
I don't know why politicians in the West continue to bother even trying with these people and their whacked-out religious turf war. 23rd attempt eh? What makes people think this attempt will succeed where no less than twenty two tries have failed before?
Well, actually, I do know why they do: they're either religious whack-jobs themselves or they're after votes from religious whack-jobs...

Isn't there a rull against changing your opponent posts?
As I recall it was "those who THINK that they sound smart...:P
