So lets hear it...what is your very favorite Thanksgiving food? It can be something "traditional" or a family specialty or whatever....

My favorite is the stuffing with gravy on top  As for dessert my mom makes her special cheesecake every year that is aboslutely phenomenal, I've never had it anywhere else like she makes it, seems I'm always thoroughly disappointed by every other cheesecake :( (although in my opinion cheesecake is like sex, even when it's bad it's good :nice:)

Nobody makes stuffing like my grandma used to! Man, it was so good; she had a way of making the breadcrumbs kindy moist & chewy, but full of flavor. She also made a really good apple & celery salad, but mostly it's the stuffing, turkey, gravy, & yams that I'm into.

Yeah, stuffing and gravy FTW.

Leftover turkey and stuffing sandwiches would be a very close second.

Turkey soup from leftovers is my favorite part about Thanksgiving. I love the whole traditional meal, though. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, bread. We always had stuffed shells, french onion soup, steamed shrimp and stuffed mushrooms as lunch, with the huge meal to follow.

Pecan Pie with whipped cream has to be on the list some place, probably right after dressing with gravy.

Does anyone else remember the pickle tray?

Usually only brought out for Christmas and thanksgiving it was an ornate glass or crystal plate loaded with all sorts of weird pickle type stuff.

Yes, and I remember no one ate off of it, because they were all saving room for the good stuff. :nice:

Thanksgiving will never be like it was when my grandparents hosted it...they are both gone now...actually, nearly my entire family is gone and or estranged as of late. Now, I make it- and it just isn't the same....Grandma would make about 8 pies (huge family)...grandpa made the turkey and the stuffing- and sometimes a ham aswell...there'd be several crock pots full of yummy side dishes (huge kitchen)...enough food to feed their army all day - and still have left over's to munch on for a couple days!!

Favorites-

Turkey- white meat only, please
Stuffing- yes more gravy, please
Mashed taters- even more gravy, heehee
Peas and Corn...Oven baked rolls...and all sorts of snacks before hand--including pickles and such on crystal serving dishes! - we as kids would run in and snack on them while waiting for the meal to be served- putting olives on our fingers...FUN, fun and fun times...

I take leftover turkey and either make soup, a turkey stuffing and potato hash (add the veggies too) or I cut it up and put it in my homemade spaghetti sauce.

you have leftovers? we eat stuffing and potatoes and turkey the next day, and it's usually all gone by the end of that day.

I like to make a turkey pot-pie with whatever is leftover, and put stuffing on teh top and then bake it.

I cant choose.. btw, I like dark meat turkey. I just LOVE turkey, i could eat it anytime.
