View Full Version : An amazing look at Historic Art. Evil Elmo 10-29-2007, 03:01 PM Check it out. http://www.haltadefinizione.com :nice: priji 11-28-2007, 03:02 AM Thanks Evil priji 11-28-2007, 04:09 AM Laperouse is an amazing historic treasure dating to 1766 and located on the Quai des Grands Augustins along the Seine. Here is their website, that includes the history (excerpted below) and other information. www.restaurantlaperouse.com/ The dining rooms upstairs are incredible jewels: each little salon is like an art piece in itself, decorated with mirrors and paintings, tiles, sculptural details, crystal chandeliers and sconces, rugs and furniture that depict a theme. I didn't go inside as I only had about an hour or so to get this shot, while there was very little traffic, and again, it was a game of cat and mouse for the photographer, trying to get a photo without pedestrians on this busy sidewalk. But it was a c-c-c-c-cold February evening and the rain was working in my favor. :o) The mysterious mood created by the dim, soft light, has really given this image an air of historic charm, putting one right back into time. For history lovers, more information below in my comment. Dedication: This photo is for my Flickr friend Sati, www.flickr.com/photos/sati_kobashi/ who is the administrator of a really fun group called Feel Me, Post Me, www.flickr.com/groups/feelme/ that focuses on how a photo makes you FEEL rather than on its technical aspects. A very fun and interesting group. Sati's whimsical and creative photo stream is a great ride, and I dedicate this photo to her because she has taken THIS tour of the Historic Cafes of Paris with me all the way!! Thanks Sati from Brazil! I also thank ChelseaPhotography www.flickr.com/photos/chelseaonline/ for all the great virtual visits we've had over many glasses of champagne, on this little tour of some of our favorite kinds of places, The Historic Cafes of Paris, which I've been uploading these last several days. Thanks Monique of Canada who has a now very famous set of great cats on Flickr, Leo and Camille! ^__^ ^__^ KillZone 01-10-2008, 05:08 PM Those are great. I looked (very briefly, I admit) for a virtual tour of the Sistene Chapel, but only found a site seemingly controlled by the Vatican, and the site only had small pics. kcurrin 02-05-2008, 03:41 PM Those are really good. |
