At work, in the state I reside in, I am in the minority. My objective is to treat people as individuals, and to be treated the same. It takes patience with some individuals (of whatever race), if they were raised to be paranoid or be victims.
What's more, I have been in a leadership position for decades. People have made a "run at me" to see what shakes loose. We use the OEO (Office of Equal Opportunity), staffed by a variation of folks. They are professionals who know which battles are worth fighting, and they shut down cases built on b.s. quickly. I go about my business to help the staff get things done. 95% respect me, it's all good.

Just ignore the hillbillies who come in all colors. The other 95% of us are good people.

I always find it interesting that whenever anyone has an opinion on race relations and it doesn't benefit the stance of blacks, it is immediately considered racism. (Not really referring to this thread but it seems that this thread has some of it, as well).

I sympathize with any group of oppressed people...but only if those people realize that there is oppression everywhere and that they aren't the only victims of it.

For example...I work in a ghetto area. I get pulled over daily for "driving while white"...makes sense...why would a white person be in that area other than to buy drugs. However, if someone is going to reference racial profiling, they have to hear MY experience, as well.
