Today, August 19th, is the seventh day of the seventh month in the traditional Chinese calendar. About 2,000 years ago, the young girls who don't got married have started the activity, Beg for Brightness, every this time. They would put an incense burner table in the backyard towards the Moon and light up a few incenses inserting the burner and put some traditional Chinese snacks on the table at the same time, mainly is melon seeds and pastries. Whereafter they would kneel down looking towards the Moon and pray. They hoped the fairy in the Moon would bestow them brightness to help them discover their Mr. Rights. So it's known for "Girls Festival".

Of course nowaday girls don't believe in these stuffs any more. We polish our eyes to look for our Mr. Rights and never miss a little hint. :D And "Girls Day" evolves "Lovers Day" now increasingly. So, let's shop downtown this evening, sisters!

Prayer (or reflection, for the non-religious) is a good start in looking for one's lover. One uses the power of imagination and thought in defining who their "Mr. Right" could be. The fact that these girls got together for the ceremony was a great idea, too.
Very useful discussions about "Mr. Almost Rights" and "Mr. Very Wrongs" between the girls, who might benefit from the experience of their sisters.

Boys could equally benefit from a ceremony of this nature (more so, perhaps). Discussion of body parts could evolve into more useful exercises about why talking with girl "A" made them feel better than flirting with girl "B".
