View Full Version : The Shawshank Redemption
Haddaway 02-24-2007, 01:54 PM I just saw this movie. This is now my favorite movie. I have never seen a movie with such acting and the story was brought out incredibly. I feel like this movie has changed my life in some way. I have to say this has to be the greastest movie of all time. I laughed, I cried, I panicked. It had me at the edge of my seat. The suspense was extraordinary. The friendship Red and Andy shared made me envious. I felt like I would spend 20 years in prison just for myself to have a friendship of such heights. To have done what he did. It was just incredible for me to watch.
From watching this movie I feel like my life is never going to be the same.

optimus 02-24-2007, 02:01 PM It was a great movie. Inspiring.
fat mike 02-24-2007, 02:22 PM some say it's impossible for people to be intimate in a prison setting.;)
Haddaway 02-24-2007, 02:33 PM You mean as close friends, Fatmike? I think they can. If the people aren't crazy like some of the people in prison and they are good enough people. Especially since Andy was innocent and Red was someone who made a mistake when he was young. It can happen. At least I hope it can, since if it is able to happen it will make the world a little less dark.

Haddaway 02-24-2007, 03:02 PM
Use of foreshadowing: Out in the prison yard right before Andy tells Red to go to the rock in the place......."Andy, it's just a filthy pipe dream"....and indeed it was.
I loved the film. Great humour and great ending. I've seen it a few times.

Truth Teller 02-24-2007, 03:36 PM I love Shawshank Redemption [should have won Oscars instead of Forrest Gump],though few films have moved me as much The Green Mile does [especially at the end where the old man finds his gift comes with a curse].
Haddaway 02-24-2007, 03:46 PM I have never seen Green Mile, Truthteller. I think that's the next movie I will watch.
Dogberry 02-24-2007, 04:11 PM Classic film Morgan Freeman is always worth watching
fat mike 02-24-2007, 04:22 PM he is-i agree and he's not British
GROFF200 02-26-2007, 10:03 AM Shawshank REdemption is probably the only movie I have seen that is 100% faithful to the book. The movie is based on a short story written by Stephen King, in case you didn't know. It was part of four short stories released as "The Four Seasons" IIRC.
Baboon 02-26-2007, 10:55 AM Excellent movie. It's ranked #2 on IMDB.com (http://www.imdb.com/chart/top?tt0111161) (behind The Godfather).

One of the best short stories I've ever read, after The Body.
Truth Teller 02-26-2007, 03:30 PM I have never seen Green Mile, Truthteller. I think that's the next movie I will watch.
It also takes place in prison during the Depression and invovles an innocent man and that's all I'll say.

You sure?
I could have sworn he was from Bolton
Von Apfelstrudel 02-27-2007, 05:29 AM Not a bad movie, but definetely a bit longish.
