I haven't seen any around but seem to be up beyond January in some cases. They are also seen up more earlier now around October or November.
Something wrong with that picture.

View Full Version : Any Christmas Lights Up Still? Ice Pick 02-18-2007, 11:17 PM I haven't seen any around but seem to be up beyond January in some cases. They are also seen up more earlier now around October or November. Something wrong with that picture. Ema 02-19-2007, 12:48 AM our tree is still up :p I'm gunna put easter stuff on it. :D Bear Stories 02-19-2007, 01:14 AM I still have the lights up; I don't turn them on, but they'll stay up until the weather breaks. Mystlet 02-19-2007, 10:28 AM I still have them on my fake fig tree, and that's where they'll stay year-round. It looks kinda like a tropical party in here with them on. Patio lanterns, but inside. :) Munga 02-22-2007, 01:01 PM That's exactly my theme: On my porch there's still an advent wreath hanging and I can't seem to get to take it down. I'm also considering to look at it as some kind of tropical decoration. TimeWellWasted 02-22-2007, 06:38 PM we still have our tree up, and the wreath hung outside.....we are taking it down this weekend....i HOPE. Shadoglare 02-22-2007, 10:56 PM I still have the lights up; I don't turn them on, but they'll stay up until the weather breaks. Same here - I just took the ones down that were outside tonight - been too danged cold out! Adi 02-23-2007, 09:08 PM Call me foolish or call me superstitous but uhm Christmas ornaments of any kind i.e. trees, lights etc should be taken down by the 4th of January and Christmas carols should only be played during the season. According to who??- The Old and Wise. Ice Pick 02-24-2007, 12:49 AM Call me foolish or call me superstitous but uhm Christmas ornaments of any kind i.e. trees, lights etc should be taken down by the 4th of January and Christmas carols should only be played during the season. According to who??- The Old and Wise. I agree totally, Christmas stuff should be taken down when the New Year starts. Oh my, I thought having coloured lights in that wreath is enough. Wrong again? But I own a yucca palm tree which I once used as a christmas tree with coloured lights standing in the glass porch. Looked like being in Havanna or some such place... :-)) Checkpoint 02-26-2007, 04:02 PM Really, is that mandatory? Oh my, I thought having coloured lights in that wreath is enough. Wrong again? But I own a yucca palm tree which I once used as a christmas tree with coloured lights standing in the glass porch. Looked like being in Havanna or some such place... :-)) Must be a tiny palm. Tell me why Havanna, have you been there? EMTrue 02-26-2007, 06:21 PM Eww. Take that stuff down ASAP...especially if it is poorly hung in the first place! (You know you've seen them- houses covered in gobs of crooked, ill matched lighting and cheap decorations scattered about). Munga 02-27-2007, 02:30 PM Eww. Take that stuff down ASAP...especially if it is poorly hung in the first place! Hey, I can assure you it aint. It survived a heavy winterstorm with strong gusts of winds nicely. So no problems in that respect. (You know you've seen them- houses covered in gobs of crooked, ill matched lighting and cheap decorations scattered about). Is that my future???? Oh my, but maybe it covers the lacking paint.... May be there's something good to it. :) Must be a tiny palm. Tell me why Havanna, have you been there? Yes the palm tree is quite tiny. It's that kind that grows like weeds. Two years ago it reached the ceiling and was cut down. Has reached a height of almost tree feet again since then. So tiny momentarily. And in lack of water I suppose... No I haven't been to Havanna. I was too lazy to get up to find the dictionary to look up the exact spelling of what I wanted to say: I've many times seen caribbean decorations (palm trees with coloured lights in them) on the Bahamas where I visit somewhat more often. You know that money and tax stuff....:D Adi 02-27-2007, 08:11 PM Eww. Take that stuff down ASAP...especially if it is poorly hung in the first place! (You know you've seen them- houses covered in gobs of crooked, ill matched lighting and cheap decorations scattered about). :D :D very funny. zipper99 02-27-2007, 08:57 PM We took the decorations down on Twelth Night as usual but the string of lights which had hung in our window (with sucker pads) got transferred into the main room and is now draped around my bookcases - it's rather charming late at night.. Bear Stories 03-11-2007, 04:03 AM Call me foolish or call me superstitous but uhm Christmas ornaments of any kind i.e. trees, lights etc should be taken down by the 4th of January and Christmas carols should only be played during the season. According to who??- The Old and Wise. Well then the Old and Wise can come to my house and wrestle their way through 3 feet of snow and take down my Christmas lights. Personally, I'd rather wait until April so I don't have to risk my neck by propping the ladder up in a snowbank. But hey, that's just me. Terrapin 03-12-2007, 10:37 PM I took everything down a few days after the new year...yeah people around here still have stuff up..mostly the window lights which are left up year round I've noticed.. SivVulk 03-16-2007, 10:41 PM i have christmas lights still set up in my room cause i've only been home once since January... And on a semi-related note i am known to listen to certain christmas carols all year around... notably Silent Night and We Three Kings of Orient Are (although that technically isn't a christmas carol)... there's also a few sung by Avril that i listen to all year round as well... Red_Thunder 03-23-2007, 06:36 PM March 23rd. They still have their lights up next door. All thought they don't turn them on. Munga 03-24-2007, 05:04 AM Thats what I'm considering. As it has been snowing here for a week and is ****ing freezing cold, I regret having taken that advent wreath with lights down end of february. Ice Pick 03-27-2007, 02:49 PM Christmas lights are put up more and more earlier each year, I think around October or something. Modemizer 03-30-2007, 05:41 PM My step-mother used to keep the indoor strand that circles the livingroom up all year around. Damb! Now thats just lazy. bradadair 04-01-2007, 08:36 AM There are at least four houses in my neighborhood that still have their Christmas lights up and it is a huge pet peeve of mine. I understand that the weather here was bad for a lot of the winter and that makes it difficult to get them down, however, I was able to take mine down and so was most of the rest of the neighborhood. Not to mention, that for the last two weeks it has been 60-70 degrees here so there are no excuses at all anymore. If you don't want to have to go out in the cold and snow to take down Christmas lights, then don't put up Christmas lights. Brad |
