The President in the movie reminded me of G.W. Bush , his finger hovering over the Nukes button.
The countries are saved by a more "open minded" Jack Ryan .

Is this just another spy movie, or an attempt by Hollywood
to open the Bush' adminstrations eyes ??

I enjoyed the movie for it's realism and lack of um..flag waving.
It was also quite disturbing..

Realism? Any person with half a mind can pick apart the flaws. My wife hates watching military/political movies with me for that reason. I pick them apart, flaw by flaw. Possible? yes. Likely? no.

Well..I meant realism as compared to most Hollywood flicks...

Disturbing that the movies release co-incided with "dirty bomb" arrests...

Sorta makes you think...

Alan that it was based on a book written a couple of years ago by a popular historical/political fiction writer... nothing more.

"In "The Sum of All Fears" it's a wealthy cabal of
neo-Nazi, Euro-trash industrialists who purchase a
misplaced Israeli bomb and use it to blow up the
Super Bowl in the hopes of launching nuclear war
between America and Russia. Tom Clancy's
10-year-old novel that inspired the film featured
Muslim crazies as leaders of the dire conspiracy, but
Arab-American pressure groups pushed Paramount
Pictures to change the identity of the villains
conveniently enough, there are no Neo-Nazi
"defense" organizations to protest their negative
characterization on screen.

Director Phil Alden Robinson dutifully wrote to the
radical activists at the Council on American Islamic
Relations: "I hope you will be reassured that I have
no intention of promoting negative images of
Muslims or Arabs, and I wish you the best in your
continuing efforts to combat discrimination." Of
course, Mr. Robinson failed to mention that Osama
bin Laden and his distinguished colleagues proved far
more potent than Hollywood ever could in
"promoting negative images of Muslims or Arabs."

Apologists for "The Sum of All Fears" and "Bad
Company" eagerly point out that both films had been
scripted and shot before Sept. 11, but sane observers
already knew that Middle Eastern terrorists
represented by far the most likely source of deadly
attacks on America. After all, Islamic fanatics had
previously killed American citizens in Somalia, the
East Africa embassy bombings, the USS Cole attack,
Khobar Towers, and the first World Trade Center
bombing. Bin Laden formally declared war on the
U.S. with a 1998 "fatwa," announcing that American
civilians anywhere on earth represented legitimate
targets. "

If anyone thinks taking out the reference to Islamic terrorists setting off this bomb is a good idea, {because there are stupid people out there who would love to use that as an excuse to "take revenge on towelheads"or what ever the lame reason** then they are nuts.Nazi`s are more dangerous than islamist murderers?

Remember the towers destruction.that just upset folks a little.right?
The taking out of muslim terrorists was a p.c. brain fart.Talk about people being stupid.
The nazi angle is as realistic as mickey mouse and the rest of the diseny crew nuking anyone.

I lived The better part of the cold war and did not fear being nuked. Now I do.Not by Nazis,or commies, but muslim extreamists.
They have shown the will and possible means to do it with little outside restraint{government control**.
The nazis are a joke. They cant even organize a rally that out numbers the number of people throwing rocks at them.

When was the last time we had or heard of a nazi terrorist attack on the U.S.?I cant remember them blowing up people, sending out suicide bombers or planing a few builddings.Cant remember how often i have heard the cry Odessa!
The nazi angle is a tragic example of how far people will go to avoid stepping on a few toes.

I realise it's just co-incidence....Just ironic timing.

I am however glad I don't live near any large American cities..
These crazies are just about insane enough to do anything..

Gee, thanks, Cyllon. Guess I'll wait for the video:D

The Nazi angle sounds kinda dumb, but I guess there are still more people out there being called "crazy Nazis" then there are people called "misdirected Islamic fundamentalist cowardly terrorists".:p

If I had known the Islamic scumbag ass kissers at Paramount had changed the story out of political correctness I never would have paid to see it. Doesn't anyone in this country have guts anymore or is money the only thing that matters?

Screw "Arab Americans" and their goddamn hurt feelings, heaven forbid we ever offend anyone.

I thought it was interesting how in the book the terrorists were Islamic radicals but in the movie they were changed to Neo-Nazis. I also found it hilarious how the *bad guy* in the movie was talking how nationalist groups were getting stronger and now was the time to strike. Quite a coincidence given the recent success of nationalist parties in Europe.

Then to be more realistic,he should have had them nuke Europe.

All GOP Presidents are assumed to have itchy Nuke-Fingers. Haven't you watched TV in the last 25 years?
