Breast Cancer Bill

Please forward this to everyone in your address
book.. If there was ever a time when our voices and
choices should be heard, this is one of those times.

If you are receiving this it's because I think
you are a loving, caring, person who will take the
30 seconds to go and vote on this issue...and send
it on to others you know who will do the same.

There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient
Protection Act which will require insurance companies
to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients
undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the
"drive-through mastectomy" where women are forced to
go home hours after surgery against the wishes of
their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and
sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.

Lifetime Television has put this bill on their
web page with a petition drive to show your support.
Last year over half the House signed on.

PLEASE!!!!! Sign the petition by clicking on the web
site below and help women living with breast cancer
get the care they need and deserve!!

There is no cost or monetary pledge involved. You
need not give more than your name and zip code number.

Cool. But if you really want to help, get off your butt and do something. Break out your check book. Do a BSE. Get a Mammogram.

My mom is a breast cancer survivor. She found a lump in her breast at the age of 32. Luckily, it was only stage 2. After a lumpectomy, removal of the lymph nodes in her breast and armpit, chemo and radiation, she was healed. She's been cured for almost 15 years now. We support the breast cancer walks, the Wall of Hope (http://www.wallofhope.org/), and a few other charities. Go ahead and sign the petition. But girls (and guys) do me a favor: get yourself checked out. It worked for my mom, and it'll work for you.

EDIT --I have pictures from the wall of hope event on my homepage...

just wanted to plug a couple new features on the ol' american cancer society website. click here (http://www.cancer.org/eprise/main/docroot/gi/gi_5) to get involved in local events. along w/ dates, thisll give you a contact name, address & phone number. right now all ACS chapters are busy w/ relay for life. making strides against breast cancer is coming up in october. check the link for exact dates in your area.

the legislative action center is a useful tool for everyone interested in cancer related law. they offer statute summaries & have a thumbs up/thumbs down system for the lazy slobs who wont even read those. check it out here (http://www.cancer.org/eprise/main/docroot/gi/gi_3_8)

A close family friend of ours has recently been diagnosed with breastcancer. She went in yesterday to have the lump removed.

We still do not know the extent of the cancer, if it has spread, or if it was localized, but the doctors characterized it as 'fast growing.'

I guess only time will tell...
